The short version: Humanit rewrites text and gives you AI-detection verdicts. AI output can be wrong — treat it as a draft, not gospel. You are responsible for following your school’s, employer’s, or publisher’s rules about AI-assisted writing. You must be at least 13. Subscriptions auto-renew through Apple. Don’t abuse the service.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you (“you”) and Humanit (“Humanit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the Humanit iOS application (“the App” or “the Service”). By installing, downloading, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not install or use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
The App does not require you to create an account. Your data is stored locally on your device and tied to your Apple ID for purposes of subscription management only. You are responsible for safeguarding the device on which the App is installed.
Humanit uses generative AI (Google’s Gemini API) to:
The free tier allows three operations per day with a 1,500-character maximum per request. Some features and a higher daily allowance are available only with an active Pro subscription. The Pro tier enforces a generous daily fair-use cap on humanize input characters to keep the service available for everyone.
Humanit is not a substitute for original thinking, factual research, professional editing, or legal advice. The output the App produces is generated by a large language model and can be inaccurate, fabricated, biased, or stylistically off. You are responsible for reviewing every output before you rely on it, share it, or publish it.
You are also responsible for understanding and following any rules that apply to AI-assisted writing in the context you use the App for. This includes — without limitation — your school’s or university’s academic integrity policy, your employer’s communications or compliance policy, a publisher’s disclosure requirements, a platform’s terms of service, journalistic standards, and applicable copyright and consumer-protection law. Humanit does not make those determinations for you, and using the App does not exempt you from them.
The AI-detection verdict the App returns is a statistical estimate based on a single language model’s analysis. It is not a forensic determination, and we make no warranty that the verdict matches what any specific third-party detector (such as the one your institution uses) would return for the same text. Do not rely on a Humanit verdict to make accusations or grading decisions about another person’s work.
Humanit offers paid subscriptions (“Pro”) that unlock unlimited daily operations subject to the fair-use cap described in Section 3. Subscriptions are sold through Apple In-App Purchase and follow Apple’s standard terms.
Refunds for App Store subscription purchases are handled by Apple, not by Humanit. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and submit a request to Apple. We have no ability to issue refunds directly.

We reserve the right to disable Pro features for any user who we reasonably believe has violated these terms.
You retain all rights to the text you submit to the App (“Your Content”). By using the App, you grant Humanit a limited, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to process Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the features you have requested (Humanize, Detect, Paraphrase, Summarize, Grammar). This license terminates automatically once the relevant Service Provider (Google’s Gemini API) has finished processing the request.
We do not store Your Content on any server we control — we do not operate any servers. A local copy of your input and the AI output is saved inside the app sandbox on your device so the History tab can show it; you can clear that local copy at any time from Settings, or remove it entirely by uninstalling the App. We do not use Your Content to train any AI model.
The rewrites, detection verdicts, summaries, and corrections you receive from the App are generated by a third-party large language model (Google’s Gemini). AI-generated content can be inaccurate, inconsistent, biased, or misleading. The same input may produce different results on different runs. You should treat all AI output as a suggestion only and apply your own judgment.
You use AI-generated output at your own risk. Humanit does not warrant that the output will be accurate, complete, helpful, appropriate for your situation, or free from harmful or offensive content. You are responsible for any consequences of relying on or distributing AI-generated output.
The App, including its source code, design, logos, copy, and proprietary AI prompt engineering, is owned by Humanit and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works of the App or any part of it.
The App relies on the following third-party services to function. Your use of the App is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these providers:
Humanit is not responsible for the acts, omissions, content, or policies of these third parties.
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING, USAGE, OR TRADE.
HUMANIT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, BE UNINTERRUPTED, ACCURATE, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE; THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; OR THAT THE AI-GENERATED OUTPUT IS RELIABLE, ACCURATE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HUMANIT, ITS AFFILIATES, OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, ACADEMIC OR PROFESSIONAL STANDING, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP OR ANY AI-GENERATED CONTENT, EVEN IF HUMANIT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF HUMANIT ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID HUMANIT IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50.00).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages. In those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Humanit and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use or misuse of the App, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property or privacy right, (d) any content you submit through the App, or (e) any consequences arising from your use of AI-generated output in academic, professional, or commercial settings.
You can terminate this agreement at any time by cancelling your subscription (if applicable) and uninstalling the App from your device. Upon uninstallation, all locally stored data is permanently deleted.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Pro features at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, sections 4, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 16 will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Humanit is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration, except that you may assert claims in small-claims court if your claims qualify and remain in such court.
You and Humanit agree that any dispute resolution proceeding will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than arbitration, you and Humanit each waive any right to a jury trial.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual property rights.
We may modify these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available at https://humanit-legal.vercel.app/terms with the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. When material changes occur, we will surface a notice inside the App the next time you open it. Your continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App.
