The short version: Humanit rewrites text to sound more human and tells you whether a piece of text was likely written by AI. The text you submit is sent to Google’s Gemini API to perform the requested operation — it passes through a lightweight relay we operate (so the AI key isn’t embedded in the app), which forwards your request and does not store your text. A copy of your input and the result is saved on your device so you can re-read it in your history. The free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob; Humanit Pro removes all ads. We do not sell your data, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use your data to train any AI model.
1. Who we are
Humanit (“Humanit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an iOS application that uses artificial intelligence to rewrite text so it reads more naturally and to classify whether a piece of text was likely written by AI. The app is published on the Apple App Store under the bundle identifier com.shabgagan.humanit.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Humanit app collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what rights you have regarding it. By installing or using Humanit, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
2. What information we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
During the onboarding flow and ongoing use of the app, you may provide:
- Onboarding preferences. The type of user you describe yourself as (e.g., student, professional, writer), your primary use case for the app (e.g., essays, emails, blog posts), and how you discovered Humanit (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, App Store).
- Text you submit for processing. The text you paste or type into the Humanize, Detect, Paraphrase, Summarize, and Grammar features so the AI can perform the requested operation.
- App preferences. Your selected default humanization mode and your appearance preference (system, light, or dark).
2.2 Information generated by your use of the app
- Operation results. The text the AI produced for each Humanize, Paraphrase, Summarize, or Grammar request, and the AI-vs-human verdict, score, and feedback for each Detect request.
- Usage counters. The number of free credits you have remaining today and, if you are a Pro subscriber, the total characters of humanize input you have submitted today (so we can enforce the daily fair-use cap).
- Subscription state. Whether you have an active Pro subscription, when it expires, and your purchase history (managed via RevenueCat — see below).
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Crash and performance logs. The Apple unified logging system (visible only via Console.app on a connected Mac) records app errors. These logs never leave your device unless you choose to share them with Apple as part of a crash report.
2.4 Advertising data (free tier only)
If you are on the free tier, the app displays ads served by Google AdMob. To request and measure those ads, the AdMob SDK collects:
- Device and technical data — such as device model, operating-system version, coarse language/region, and a non-persistent identifier AdMob uses to limit how often you see the same ad and to detect invalid (fraudulent) activity.
- Ad-interaction data — whether an ad was shown, viewed, or tapped, used to measure and pay for ad performance.
Humanit does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). Because of this, the ads you see are not personalized by tracking your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. Humanit Pro subscribers see no ads, and no ad requests are made on their behalf.
2.5 Information we do not collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, postal address, or government-issued ID.
- Your precise or approximate location.
- Your contacts, calendar, photos, camera, or messages from other apps.
- Face data or any biometric data. Humanit does not collect, access, process, store, or share any face data, facial geometry, faceprints, or other biometric identifiers. The app does not request camera access and does not use Face ID, the TrueDepth camera, ARKit, the Vision framework, or any facial-recognition or face-detection technology.
- Health, fitness, or HealthKit data — we do not request HealthKit permissions.
- Any product-analytics events. Humanit does not include a product-analytics SDK; the only third-party SDKs that collect data are Google AdMob (ads, free tier only) and RevenueCat (subscription management).
- Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) — we never access it and do not track you across other apps.
3. How we use your information
We use the data described above only for the following purposes:
- To run the core Humanize, Detect, Paraphrase, Summarize, and Grammar features. The text you submit is sent to Google’s Gemini API so it can return the requested output. This is the entire purpose of the app and cannot be opted out of while still using these features.
- To show you your history. Your inputs and the AI-generated outputs are stored on your device so the History tab can show what you previously processed and let you copy or re-use a result.
- To personalize the experience. Your onboarding choices and default mode preference adjust which mode is preselected and what the app looks like.
- To enforce usage limits. Your daily credit counter and (for Pro users) daily character counter tell the app whether to allow another operation or surface the paywall.
- To process subscription purchases. Apple In-App Purchase handles the actual transaction; RevenueCat keeps track of whether your subscription is active so the app can unlock or lock Pro features.
- To show ads on the free tier. Google AdMob displays banner and interstitial ads to free users and uses the device/ad-interaction data described in Section 2.4 to serve and measure them. Upgrading to Humanit Pro removes all ads.
Acceptable use. You agree to use Humanit only for lawful, ethical purposes. Using the app to circumvent academic integrity policies, employer or institutional rules, or any third-party platform’s terms of service violates our Terms (see Acceptable Use) and remains your sole responsibility. We provide AI assistance — not a guarantee that the output is appropriate for any specific context.
Refunds. Subscription refunds are handled exclusively by Apple under their App Store policies. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or follow Apple’s instructions inside Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
4. Legal basis (GDPR users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your information under the General Data Protection Regulation are:
- Performance of a contract — sending your text to the Gemini API to produce the humanized text, detection verdict, or other output you requested.
- Legitimate interest — enforcing fair-use limits to keep the service available for all users.
5. How we share your information
The only server we operate is a lightweight relay that forwards your AI requests to Google (it exists so the AI key isn’t shipped inside the app); it does not store, log, or inspect your text. We share information only in these specific situations:
- With Google (Gemini API), via our relay, when you trigger a Humanize, Detect, Paraphrase, Summarize, or Grammar operation. The request includes the text you submitted plus a system prompt describing the task.
- With Google (AdMob) to serve ads to free-tier users. AdMob receives device and ad-interaction data needed to display and measure ads (see Section 6). Humanit Pro subscribers see no ads, and no ad requests are made for them.
- With Apple for App Store In-App Purchases.
- With RevenueCat to verify and manage your subscription state.
- With law enforcement if we are legally compelled to disclose information by a valid order. Our relay stores no text, so in practice we hold almost no data that could be turned over.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to data brokers. We do not use your data to train any AI model. The free tier shows ads through Google AdMob, but Humanit does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), so ads are not personalized by tracking you across other apps and websites.

7. Where your information is stored
- On your device. Your onboarding preferences, app settings, free-credit counter, Pro daily-character counter, and the input/output history for every operation are stored inside the Humanit app sandbox on your iPhone or iPad using iOS’s standard
UserDefaults and an on-device JSON store. They never leave your device except as described in Section 5.
- At Google. Gemini API requests are processed in Google’s data centers. According to Google’s API terms, requests sent through paid tiers are not used to train Google’s models.
- At RevenueCat. Subscription metadata is stored in RevenueCat’s servers (United States).
8. How long we keep your information
We retain each category of information only for as long as it is needed to deliver the feature you used it for. The specific limits are:
- On your device (history, preferences, counters). Kept inside the Humanit app sandbox only for as long as the Humanit app remains installed on your device. When you uninstall the app, iOS automatically and permanently deletes the entire app sandbox, making the data unrecoverable. You can also clear your full history at any time from the Settings tab.
- At Google (Gemini API). Google may retain API request logs (which include the text you submitted) for up to a few weeks for the sole purpose of abuse detection and policy enforcement, per their Generative AI API terms. After that period Google deletes the data. We have no ability to access, retrieve, or extend the retention of these logs.
- At RevenueCat. Subscription metadata (an anonymous app-generated user ID, the product identifier, and the purchase receipt) is kept for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward (typically up to 24 months) for receipt validation, refund handling, and tax records.
9. Security
We take the following technical measures to protect your data:
- HTTPS-only networking. The app does not allow unencrypted HTTP requests.
- API key protection. The Gemini AI key is never shipped in the app — requests go through our relay, which holds the key server-side. Other third-party keys (e.g. RevenueCat, AdMob unit IDs) are injected at build time from gitignored configuration files; the source code itself contains no secrets.
- Apple sandbox. The app runs inside the standard iOS app sandbox, isolating its data from other apps on your device.
- On-device storage. Your onboarding preferences, settings, and history live in the app’s sandbox
UserDefaults and a local JSON store. iOS protects the sandbox at rest using the system disk encryption that secures everything on a passcode-locked device.
No system can be 100% secure. If you believe you’ve found a security vulnerability, please contact us at the address in Section 16.
10. Your privacy rights
Regardless of where you live, the following options are always available to you:
- View your data. Your onboarding answers can be reviewed in the Settings tab. Your full operation history is in the History tab. Your remaining free credits today are displayed on each tool screen.
- Delete your data. Tap Clear history in Settings to permanently delete every saved input/output pair on your device. For a full wipe — including onboarding answers, preferences, and counters — uninstall the Humanit app from your device. iOS will permanently and irreversibly delete the entire app sandbox. If you would also like the limited subscription metadata held by RevenueCat (an anonymous user ID and your purchase history) to be deleted, contact us at the email address in Section 16 and we will forward the deletion request to RevenueCat. Most requests are completed within 30 days.
- Manage your subscription. Open iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Humanit to change, pause, or cancel your subscription at any time.
If you live in a region with additional rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, see the dedicated sections below.
11. User-submitted text
Because Humanit is a text-processing app, this section provides additional detail about how we handle the text content you submit. “User-submitted text” means anything you paste or type into the Humanize, Detect, Paraphrase, Summarize, or Grammar tools, and the output the AI returns for each.
11.1 What text we receive
When you tap the action button on any of the five tools, the text currently in the input field, together with a short system prompt describing the task (e.g., “Rewrite the following text so it reads more naturally...”), is sent over HTTPS to a lightweight relay we operate, which forwards it to Google’s Gemini API. The relay exists only so the AI key isn’t embedded in the app; it does not inspect, screen, store, or log your text. The exact bytes that leave your device are: the system prompt, your input text, and the parameters needed to call the API (model name, temperature, output format).
11.2 How we use your text
Your text is used exclusively to perform the requested operation:
- Humanize / Paraphrase / Summarize / Grammar. Your text is sent to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash model, which returns the rewritten output.
- Detect. Your text is sent to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite model, which returns a JSON classification (verdict, score, and feedback signals).
The input and the AI output are then stored together as a history entry on your device so you can re-read or copy the result later. We do not use your text to train any AI model, sell it, or share it with any party other than Google.
11.3 Where your text is stored
- On your device. A copy of every input/output pair is saved inside the Humanit app sandbox so it appears in your History tab. This data is protected by the standard iOS sandbox and the device-wide disk encryption that activates whenever your device is passcode-locked.
- In transit to Google. Text is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) to Google’s Gemini API endpoint.
- Briefly at Google. Google may retain the request (including the text) for up to a few weeks for abuse detection, after which the data is deleted (per Google’s Gemini API Terms).
11.4 Why we store text on your device, and for how long
We store a local copy of each input and output so that the History tab works — without retention, you would have no way to retrieve a result after closing the screen. The retention period is bounded as follows:
- Until you clear it. Tap Clear history in Settings to instantly and permanently delete every stored input/output pair on your device.
- Until you uninstall. When you uninstall Humanit, iOS automatically and permanently deletes the entire app sandbox, including every history entry, every preference, and every counter.
- Bounded by purpose. While the app is installed, history entries are retained only so you can re-read and copy past outputs. Your saved history is never uploaded to our relay or any other server we operate, and the text you submit is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
11.5 Your control over submitted text
- You initiate every request. The app sends text to Google only after you tap the action button on the relevant tool screen. The app never sends text in the background and never reads text from outside the app.
- You can clear your history at any time from the Settings tab, instantly and irreversibly.
- You can permanently delete all stored text by uninstalling the app.
- You can request out-of-band deletion of subscription metadata held at RevenueCat by contacting us at the email address in Section 16.
12. Children’s privacy
Humanit is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will take steps to delete that information.
If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please use the app only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
13. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act give you the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to know. Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
- Right to delete. Request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correct. Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information. Free-tier ads are served by Google AdMob without cross-context behavioral tracking — we do not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) or use App Tracking Transparency — so we do not “share” your information for cross-context behavioral advertising as the CPRA defines it. If you’d prefer no ads at all, Humanit Pro removes them entirely.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will verify your identity through your in-app state and respond within the timelines required by law (typically 45 days, extendable by another 45 days).
14. European users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right of access — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — have your data deleted.
- Right to restrict processing — pause certain uses of your data.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Because Humanit stores your data locally on your device, you can exercise most of these rights yourself by clearing history in Settings, by uninstalling the app, or by managing your subscription in iOS Settings. For anything that cannot be exercised in-app, contact us at the address below.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the third-party services we use, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, surface a notice inside the app the next time you open it. The current version of this policy is always available at https://humanit-legal.vercel.app/privacy.
Continued use of the app after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, please uninstall the app.
For privacy questions, data deletion requests, or to exercise any of the rights described above, contact us at:
Email: agagan057@gmail.com
Please include “Privacy Request” in the subject line and describe the request as specifically as you can. We respond to general inquiries within 7 days. For formal data-subject requests under GDPR or CCPA, we respond within 30 days as required by law, and may extend by up to 60 additional days for unusually complex requests with prior written notice to you.
